Called To Die

 Galatians 2:20

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Death is something that we all hate to talk about.  While it has become a reality in our world because of sin, it’s something all of us hate to discuss.  This is because death should have never been a part of our world.  God created everything perfect but due to mankind’s sin, death entered it.

Whenever we hear about Christianity one of the main things we hear about it is being born again and having eternal life.  We have a tendency to forget that death has a part in that process as well.

Just as Christ was crucified on the cross, when we surrender ourselves to Him, we realize by His power, it’s no longer us who live.  We died to sin, but Christ raised us anew by His power so now it is Christ that lives within us.

When we are saved, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our lives and lives within us to help us and guide us.

2 Corinthians 3:16

16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

How awesome is that to know that the person of the Holy Spirit, fully God, takes residence within us to help us and to comfort us.  God is truly omnipresent in our lives.

God takes up residence inside of us because we have died to sin.  We have become a new creation and now fully belong to Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

The old things have passed away.  They have died and we have become reborn unto God.  We are a new creation.

Have you ever said to yourself, “I wish I could just start all over again?”  That is what we get with the Christian life.  We get so many chances.  While the consequences of past decisions are not taken away, we are forgiven and can live in newness of life with Christ.
